Message from the Chair of Governors

Welcome to Taxal and Fernilee Primary School

Taxal and Fernilee Governors are committed to the school and are members of the local community so we can represent you and your children. Our role as Governors is to work with the leadership team to ensure that Taxal and Fernilee provides an outstanding education for your child. We work with the staff in school to ensure all aspects of the Curriculum are delivered and that children make progress in their learning.

The entire school community contributed to the creation of our Taxal "Script" - The 6 values that underpin our beliefs and behaviour. Strength, Compassion, Resilience, Integrity, Peace and Tenacity.  Our aim is to ensure that all children are given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, both academically and socially, and are part of a successful learning community that prepares them for the future. Results in the key tests for pupils leaving Taxal and Fernilee are very strong, giving children a great platform to succeed throughout their education.

The children at Taxal and Fernilee are lucky to have such a warm and welcoming school environment and to be part of a community where the children support each other and to be surrounded by staff who encourage them to try to do their individual best every day.

The Governing Body is a crucial and integral part of the growth of the school and is key in setting the strategic direction for the future of the school. The Governing Body is made up of Parents, Staff, Members of the Church, the community and local authority. Governors are elected to serve a minimum period of 4 years and can be re elected at the end of the term by the Governing Body. The role of Chair and Vice Chair is voted on annually by the Governing Body.

My role as Chair enables me to support the Head to ensure that the school continues to offer consistent and progressive teaching and learning to all children in a safe and happy environment in which they can thrive both socially and academically. As a parent with children at Taxal and Fernilee I have seen how the teachers and other staff are committed to SCRIPT values to enable every child reach their full potential.
