Message from the Reverend Frances
As Vicar of Whaley Bridge Parish, I am delighted to welcome you to Taxal and Fernilee School. As the Church of England in this area, we are committed to the wellbeing and flourishing of every child. It is a privilege to be able to serve our locality through our relationships with our church school.
The Christian vision sees learning taking place within a community where relationships of care, respect, forgiveness and trust are cherished and valued. This approach is borne out in my experience of Taxal and Fernilee School. Whether I am in school to take assembly or to sit on a Governors’ meeting I am confident that this is a school in which every child’s welfare and every child’s learning is at the centre.
The name of the school reflects historic links with the church: there used to be two Church of England parishes – the parish of Taxal, and the parish of Fernilee These are now combined as the parish of Whaley Bridge. Our local congregation uses two church buildings, Holy Trinity Whaley Bridge and St. James Taxal and we enjoy welcoming school in both churches for special celebrations all year round. We support, pray for and and work alongside school and in doing so, we form part of that special web of relationships that binds the school into its local community.
I hope that your child’s time in school may be a happy adventure in learning.
Revd. Frances Eccleston
