Wrap around Care

Taxal & Fernilee Out of School Club

Fun filled and action-packed club for 4-11 year-olds!

Welcome to Taxal and Fernilee Out of School Club. Our club offers fun and affordable childcare delivered in a safe and supervised environment by qualified DBS checked staff.

We offer wrap around care, before and after school, with lots of free play and free choice activities. Children can try a range of activities including arts and crafts, sports, or just chill out and enjoy the variety of toys and games available. We encourage children to try something new but understand that not every activity suits every child so an alternative is always available.

FAQ’s

About our club

The Out of School Club (OSC) was established in August 1995 by parents for the use of parents requiring a quality, safe, reliable childcare environment for their children out of school hours. We’re a registered charity, supported by a parent committee.

Who can use the club?

Children from Taxal and Fernilee Primary School, and children attending any other local schools are welcome to attend the club. Collection from Buxworth Primary can be arranged (subject to availability).

How do I book a place?

Please register and book online here: Taxal & Fernilee OSC (kidsclubhq.co.uk)

When do I pay?

All payments for OSC or Holiday Club must be made online at the time of booking either by BACS or Childcare vouchers. We cannot accept cheques or cash.

Do I have to book a full session?

We have two session lengths available after school, end of school until 4.30pm, or end of school until 6pm.

How can I be sure that my child arrives safely at the club?

Reception to Year 2 pupils are collected from their classrooms or brought through to the club by staff members. All other classes have lists of children attending that evening and children make their own way to the hall from their classroom. If they don't arrive on time, staff will look for them. Children visiting the club for the first time are also collected from their classroom.

As we are a separate entity from school and, due to GDPR rules, school is not allowed to inform us of any absences or if a child has been collected by other parents. We also cannot allow children to be collected by other parents unless OSC have been notified in advance. Please appreciate that OSC needs to be informed ,by you, as the parent/guardian, the easiest way to do this is to ring or text OSC on 07979 063283.

What if I'm late home?

If you can not arrive in time, please contact us immediately on our direct telephone number. 07979 063283.

Are meals provided?

Breakfast is available during the morning sessions which start from 7.45am. We are now able to offer evening meals.

What about school holidays?

We run a holiday club, details can be found on our OSC Facebook page and bookable via our online booking system. Payment is to be made in advance to secure your booking.

How do I know my child will receive quality childcare?

OSC are governed by OFSTED and meet the standards required. All staff are DBS checked.

We have comprehensive policy and procedure documents covering child protection, behaviour, equal opportunities, special needs, sun-play and medication amongst others.

What happens if my child is sick or has an accident?

Our staff hold current first aid certificates and will follow proper procedures in case of accidents or sickness. We have an accident book and you will be told if your child has been involved in an accident. At registration, via our online system, we ask for medical details and emergency contacts.

How does the Club interact with Taxal and Fernilee Primary School?

We operate independently from the school, which enables us to make our own management decisions such as pricing and equipment buying and have a good working relationship with the school. The Club Manager reports to a committee which is made up of parents and OSC staff, so that we can enjoy good communication at all levels.

Due to being a separate entity from school, please appreciate that OSC needs to be informed by you, as the parent/guardian, of any changes such a child absences or collection by other parents, the easiest way to do this is to ring or text OSC on 07979 063283.

Can I help with the club or join the committee?

The Club is a registered charity and we always need help with fundraising for new equipment, your support for this will be welcome. If you wish to be directly involved with the Club we always advertise staff vacancies. If you are interested in joining our friendly Committee, please get in touch and we welcome all parents to our quarterly meetings.
